Trinity
part 14

There's a booth selling postcards here. Eerie pictures of mushroom clouds, trinitite pebbles, old men and their "gadget", atomic tourists swarming the remains of the detonation tower. I pick one of the site just six seconds after detonation. A small bright sun, four times as intense as the one in our skies, kindled and rising from the middle of the desert. The simple black and white shot still captures the seething heat of an open kiln.

I turn it over and address it to Martin back home. I write this: "This is how it's going to look when the world ends."

At the post office, I watch as the stamp gets canceled. Click.
